Welcome to TEAM HOPE…the road to fitness

Welcome to Team Hope’s blog dedicated to Glenda V. Roberts, my wife and best friend. On December 8, 2010 Glenda received a very special gift, a gift of life.  Glenda received her kidney transplant from the University of Washington Medical Center located in Seattle, and I bet you won’t guess what she named her kidney.  You are absolutely right…she named her kidney “Hope”.

Over the next several weeks I will keep you up to date on one of her physical fitness goals and that is to walk a half marathon during the month of November.  She is being sponsored by TEAM TRANSPLANT of the UW Medical Center, located right here in Seattle.

Fitness and healthy living have been and are a daily force behind everything that consumes Glenda’s life.  When she heard that Team Transplant conducted training for a half marathon each year, she could not wait to get the scoop on what the requirements were to start.

What I will do over the next several weeks will be to capture and bring to you events, activities, challenges, successes and all the fun things going on with Team Hope.  So, come join us.

There are many ways you can support Team Hope.  Join the team by walking or running whether you are experience or a beginner.  Team Hope needs your help.

Yes you can participate; its a family event.  We need people to volunteer to man the water tables, to cheer us along and to give generously to an important cause… Team Transplant.

Please visit www.ouiworks.org to get answers to any of your questions regarding scheduling, locations and to receive weekly messages from Team Transplant.

I’ll be there…why not you?  Invite a friend.  Come on out.
